> What holds the pivot of a rocker beam on a Stirling engine?

- Category: Stirling engines › Drives & mechanisms
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Ø3 pin hole (fit: press); M3 clearance Ø3.4 (ISO 273)

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- A 16 × 10 upright 60 tall on a 30 × 16 × 4 foot.
- A Ø3 hole through the 10 mm upright, 54 mm up (fit: press), takes the pivot pin that the rocker beam's 623 turns on.
- Two Ø3.4 holes 22 mm apart in the foot take M3 screws to the base.

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

|---|---|---|---|---|
| pivot-post pin hole | Ø3 | Ø3 pivot pin | press | pivot-post-* |
| pivot-post foot holes | Ø3.4 | M3 screw clearance | designed | pivot-post-* |

## Sizes

| parameter | value |

## How it fits

### Goes in or on
- [Base plate for 1.5, 2 and 3 in tri-clamp Stirling engines](https://xemstudio.com/objects/tri-clamp-engine-base-plate/): 2 × M3 to the base

### Connects to
- [Rocker beam 60 / 80 / 100 mm on a 623 pivot](https://xemstudio.com/objects/rocker-beam/): beam's 623 on the Ø3 pin

### Also needed
- [Dowel pins, 2–6 mm (ISO 2338 / DIN 6325)](https://xemstudio.com/objects/dowel-pins-metric/): Ø3 pivot pin

## Questions

**How high is the beam pivot?**

54 mm above the foot's underside.

**What pin goes in the pivot post?**

A Ø3 pin pressed in the hole; the rocker beam's 623 turns on it.
