Brass compression fittings (inch tube): tube OD, nut thread, hex and length, 1/8 to 7/8 in — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/brass-compression-nuts-inch/ (sheet CC BY 4.0) Basis: JB-style brass compression catalogue (Buy Fittings Online pp. 71-72) with SC Fastening and Compressor Source thread cross-checks; McMaster-Carr linked for CAD Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Sizes: see table below - A compression fitting grips a plain tube with a brass sleeve (ferrule) squeezed by the nut; the nut thread is a straight UN thread cut for the tube OD, and the tube must be a round OD with no flare. Sizes are tube OD in inches (1/8 to 7/8 in). Threads: 1/8 in 5/16-24, 3/16 in 3/8-24, 1/4 in 7/16-24, 5/16 in 1/2-24, 3/8 in 9/16-24, 7/16 in 5/8-24, 1/2 in 11/16-20, 5/8 in 13/16-18, 3/4 in 1-18, 7/8 in 1-1/8-18. - Numbers: the nut table (thread, A, hex) and the sleeve table are from a JB-style brass fittings catalogue (Buy Fittings Online, pages 71-72). The tube-OD-to-thread pairs repeat in SC Fastening's catalogue (its names for the same parts: 1/8 in tube 5/16-24, ... 3/4 in 1-18; for 7/8 in it prints '1-1/18-18', an apparent typo for 1-1/8-18) and Compressor Source's 1/4 in nut (7/16-24). A and hex have one source: the page's own table. The light pattern ('L' parts) is shorter and has a smaller hex for 1/2 in and 5/8 in; both are shown. The same catalogue's separate 'brass nut' table gives 1/4 in A 0.44 hex 0.50, 3/8 in 0.40 / 0.62, 1/2 in 0.48 / 0.75, 5/8 in 0.56 / 0.94, which differ from the ferrule-table nuts for 3/8 and 1/2 and 5/8; a different nut style, not used. - Sleeve columns: the sleeve table has no header; A and B are taken from its diagram and their meaning is unconfirmed (B grows with tube OD, so it is probably the sleeve OD and A the length). No sleeve files are made. Tube insertion depth is not given by the catalogue (it says only that the tube is bottomed on the fitting shoulder), so none is listed. - Do not confuse with flare nuts: 1/4 in flare is 7/16-20, 1/4 in compression is 7/16-24 (see 'sae-45-degree-flare-nuts-and-threads'). McMaster-Carr's compression page (linked) offers inch tube ODs from 1/16 to 1 in and metric 4 to 28 mm; its thread list is not mapped to tube sizes on the page, so it was not used for a cross-check. - Files (10): hex envelopes, one per tube size: hex across flats × length A, a through hole at the tube OD. No internal thread, sleeve seat or chamfer. - Left out: metric compression fittings 6 to 22 mm (a Legris catalogue was read but its column labels could not be matched to dimensions; EN 1254 olive tables were not found), sleeve and body profiles, male / female NPT bodies, working pressures and insertion depth. tube OD, in (mm) nut thread, UN (major, mm) nut length A, in (mm) nut hex, in (mm) light-pattern nut A / hex, in sleeve A / B, in (labels unconfirmed) 1/8 (3.17) 5/16-24 (major 7.94) 0.38 (9.7) 0.37 (9.4) — 0.19 / 0.19 3/16 (4.76) 3/8-24 (major 9.52) 0.41 (10.4) 0.43 (10.9) — 0.22 / 0.27 1/4 (6.35) 7/16-24 (major 11.11) 0.44 (11.2) 0.50 (12.7) 0.44 / 0.50 0.25 / 0.34 5/16 (7.94) 1/2-24 (major 12.70) 0.44 (11.2) 0.56 (14.2) — 0.25 / 0.41 3/8 (9.52) 9/16-24 (major 14.29) 0.47 (11.9) 0.62 (15.7) 0.47 / 0.62 0.25 / 0.47 7/16 (11.11) 5/8-24 (major 15.88) 0.50 (12.7) 0.68 (17.3) — 0.31 / 0.53 1/2 (12.70) 11/16-20 (major 17.46) 0.62 (15.7) 0.81 (20.6) 0.56 / 0.75 0.38 / 0.59 5/8 (15.88) 13/16-18 (major 20.64) 0.62 (15.7) 0.94 (23.9) 0.56 / 0.87 0.38 / 0.71 3/4 (19.05) 1-18 (major 25.40) 0.68 (17.3) 1.12 (28.4) — 0.44 / 0.87 7/8 (22.22) 1-1/8-18 (major 28.57) 0.62 (15.7) 1.25 (31.8) — 0.41 / 0.99 Files elsewhere (not hosted by Xem Studio; license as stated by the publisher): - Buy Fittings Online (catalogue p. 71-72): Brass compression fittings: nut and sleeve tables, tube OD and thread size — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://www.buyfittingsonline.com/content/Compression-Fittings-Brass-Web.pdf - SC Fastening (JB-style catalogue): Compression brass nut list: tube OD and thread size by part (cross-check of the thread column) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://catalog.scfastening.com/viewitems/bing-brass-fittings-compression-fittings-1/bing-brass-fittings-compression-fittings-brass-nut?plpver=10 - Compressor Source: 1/4 in compression nut, 7/16-24 thread (cross-check) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://compressor-source.com/products/1-4-compression-nut-hex-shape-7-16-24-thread-size-solid-brass-fitting-new - McMaster-Carr: Brass compression tube fittings (free STEP/IGES per part, for your own design use; no redistribution) — STEP, IGES, PDF — McMaster-Carr site terms: personal design use, no redistribution [verify license at link] — https://www.mcmaster.com/brass-compression-tube-fittings Free files (CC BY 4.0, Xem Studio; STEP + STL, 10 parts): https://xemstudio.com/files/hardware/brass-compression-nuts-inch/index.json API: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=brass-compression-nuts-inch
