## Notes

- A stud-type cam follower (CF series; also called a stud track roller, cam roller or bolt-on roller) is a needle- or ball-bearing roller on a threaded stud that runs on a cam, rail or track. You mount it by drilling a through hole for the stud and tightening a nut on the thread G; D is the outer ring (the part that touches the track), C its width, d the stud diameter (and thread major diameter).
- Table: THK's Cam Follower General Catalog (the CF-A table for 3 to 10 mm studs, the CF-AB table for 12 to 30 mm studs). B1 = B + B2 on every row. IKO's CF rows agree on d, D, C and the thread for every size (CF 3 and CF 4 from IKO's catalog PDF only; CF 5 to CF 30-2 from both IKO tables), and IKO's B1 equals THK's or is 0.1 to 0.2 mm larger (printed as 'max'). Both makers list the same CF 10-1, 12-1, 20-1, 24-1, 30-1 and 30-2 large-roller variants.
- Mounting hole: IKO's page recommends an H7 hole for the metric CF series (H6 for the CFS miniature series). IKO's mounting dimension f and maximum tightening torque are in its catalog; the f column here is THK's shoulder dimension for the same sizes (IKO's f for CF 5 is 9.3 min vs THK 9.7: treat f as a maker-specific value and check your maker). Hex sizes in brackets are THK's stainless-steel values.
- Files: eighteen envelope models, one per designation: outer ring Ø D × C at z 0 to C, then a stud drawn at Ø d from the ring face to the overall length B1 (the thread G is a plain cylinder at the nominal major diameter). **What size is a CF 6 cam follower?**

Roller Ø16 × 11 wide, stud Ø6 with an M6 × 1 thread 8 mm long, head 12 mm, overall length 28 mm, stud length 16 mm, 3 mm hex socket (THK; IKO agrees on D, C and thread).

**What is the difference between CF 10 and CF 10-1?**

Same stud (M10 × 1.25, overall length 36) and ring width (12), but the CF 10-1 roller is Ø26 instead of Ø22.

**What mounting hole does a CF cam follower need?**

IKO recommends an H7 hole for the metric CF series (stud d is the nominal size); the thread is tightened with a nut. Sizes are in the table.
