**Exact dimensions.** True size, with no printing tolerance added.

## Notes

- Coupled controls link the rudder to the ailerons with interconnect springs, so aileron input also deflects the rudder to counter adverse yaw; the pilot can override the springs to slip (FAA PHAK ch.6).
- The rudder requirement is greatest at low airspeed, high AoA and large aileron deflection (FAA), which is why RC 'aileron-to-rudder mix' is popular on slow models.

## Sizes

| parameter | value or range | source |
|---|---|---|
| Rudder demand peak | low speed, high AoA, large aileron | FAA PHAK ch.6 |

## Where the files are

- FAA: [Pilot's Handbook of Aeronautical Knowledge (FAA-H-8083-25), Ch. 6 Flight Controls](https://www.faa.gov/sites/faa.gov/files/08_phak_ch6.pdf) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts

## Questions

**Should I mix rudder with ailerons?**

It counters adverse yaw, which is worst slow and at high AoA (FAA PHAK ch.6).
