# 130 size brushed DC motor: Ø20.1 / 15.1 × 25.0 mm, Ø2 shaft

> What are the dimensions of a 130 size DC motor?

- Category: Electronics › Motors
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Mabuchi FA-130RA outside size and drawing (can, flats, length, boss, shaft Ø); exposed shaft length from the Adafruit 130-size listing. Envelope only: the outside of the motor at its published sizes. The windings, magnets, brushes and bearings inside are not drawn.

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- Envelope only: the outside of the motor at its published sizes. The windings, magnets, brushes and bearings inside are not drawn.
- The can is Ø20.1 round with two flats 15.1 mm apart, 25.0 mm long from the front face to the back of the end cap.
- The front face has a Ø6.15 × 1.7 boss; the Ø2.0 shaft is drawn 8.0 mm beyond it (34.7 mm overall from the end cap to the shaft tip). Shaft length differs between makers and orders.
- This face has no tapped mounting holes on the FA-130RA drawing; a 130 is usually held in a clip or a cradle on the flats. Some other makers' 130s add two small tapped holes: check the drawing of the motor in hand.
- Terminal tabs and the rear bushing are not drawn (their sizes are not given in a form I could check).
- In DIY Stirling builds, brushed DC motors of this kind are turned by the engine and used as a generator (an LED, a resistor or a meter across the leads) or as a load on the flywheel shaft.

## Questions

**What are the dimensions of a 130 motor?**

A Ø20.1 can with flats 15.1 apart, 25.0 long, with a Ø2.0 shaft; the front boss is Ø6.15 × 1.7. About 8 mm of shaft shows on common units.

**Does a 130 motor have mounting holes?**

Not on Mabuchi's FA-130RA drawing: it is held by its flats in a clip or cradle. Some other 130s have two small tapped holes on the face.

**What shaft size is a 130 motor?**

2.0 mm round. Pinions and pulleys for it are pressed on.
