# 370 size brushed DC motor: Ø24.4 × 30.8 mm, 2 × M3 on 17

> What are the dimensions of a 370 size DC motor?

- Category: Electronics › Motors
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Mabuchi RF-370CA dimension drawing; boss and hole spacing also on the RCDrone 370 listing. Envelope only: the outside of the motor at its published sizes. The windings, magnets, brushes and bearings inside are not drawn.

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- Envelope only: the outside of the motor at its published sizes. The windings, magnets, brushes and bearings inside are not drawn.
- The can is Ø24.4 × 30.8 with a Ø6.45 × 1.7 boss on each end.
- The Ø2.0 shaft is 42.0 mm long and stands 10.5 mm beyond the front boss: 43.0 mm from the end-cap face to the shaft tip.
- Two M3 × 0.5 tapped holes on 17.0 mm centres in the face. The drawing gives no thread depth, so the holes are drawn Ø3.0 × 2.0 deep only to mark where they are.
- The terminal tabs are 18.3 mm apart on the end cap; they and the wire exit are not drawn.
- The JGA25-370 gearmotor uses this can (see its page).
- In DIY Stirling builds, brushed DC motors of this kind are turned by the engine and used as a generator (an LED, a resistor or a meter across the leads) or as a load on the flywheel shaft.

## How it fits

### Connects to
- [Socket head cap screws, M2–M8 (ISO 4762 / DIN 912)](https://xemstudio.com/objects/socket-head-cap-screws-metric/): two M3 into the face holes, 17.0 apart

### Alternatives
- [JGA25-370 gearmotor: Ø25 gearbox on a 370 can, Ø4 D-shaft](https://xemstudio.com/objects/jga25-370-gearmotor/): the same can behind a 25 mm gearbox
- [380 / 385 size brushed DC motor: Ø27.7 × 37.8 mm, 2 × M2.6 on 16](https://xemstudio.com/objects/dc-motor-380-size/): bigger Ø27.7 can

## Questions

**What are 370 motor dimensions?**

Ø24.4 × 30.8 mm can, Ø2.0 shaft 10.5 beyond a Ø6.45 × 1.7 boss (43.0 from the end cap to the tip), two M3 holes 17.0 apart.

**What is the 370 motor hole spacing?**

Two M3 × 0.5 tapped holes on 17.0 mm centres, either side of the boss.

**Is a 370 the same as a 380?**

No: the 370 is a Ø24.4 can with M3 on 17.0; the 380 is a Ø27.7 can with M2.6 on 16.0.
