## Notes

- Deadrise is the angle between the bottom and horizontal on each side of the keel. Deep-V hulls run about 21-25 deg at the transom, which slices through chop for a smoother, drier ride (BoatTest).
- The cost is efficiency and stability: deep-Vs are harder to push, need more power, are more trim-sensitive and can roll at rest (BoatTest).
- In RC, deep-V monos are preferred for heat racing in rough water; one builder's notes put deep-V at about 21-26 deg and recommend 19-23 deg for heat racing (SV Design).
- Used on: Pro Boat Stealthwake (RC, 20 deg transom).
- The file is a reference example built by Xem Studio from the numbers above (Reference RC mono: 585 mm length and 20 deg transom deadrise (SV Design Stealthwake data); 181 mm is an unlabelled width in the same source's deadrise diagram.). Sizes the sources do not fix are illustrative; scale the example to your own vehicle.

## Sizes

| parameter | value or range | source |
|---|---|---|
| Deep-V transom deadrise | 21-25 deg (25 rare) | BoatTest |
| Variable deadrise | up to 60 deg forefoot, 30-45 deg amidships | BoatTest |
| RC deep-V range | about 21-26 deg | SV Design (Stealthwake) |
| RC heat-racing sweet spot | 19-23 deg | SV Design (Stealthwake) |
| RC mono CG | 25-35% of length from transom, ~30% target | SV Design (Stealthwake) |
| RC mono CG (racer) | about 28-30% with half tank | Model Gas Boats forum |

## Questions

**Why does a deep-V use more power?**

More deadrise means less lift per wetted area, so it is harder to push (BoatTest).
