DIN rail circuit breaker (MCB) dimensions, DIN 43880: 17.5 mm per pole, 18 mm module pitch, heights and depths by size — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/din-rail-mcb-circuit-breaker-din-43880/ (sheet CC BY 4.0) Basis: DIN 43880 figures as quoted by Phoenix Contact (the standard is paywalled), with ABB, Hager, Rittal, Schroff and Soyter data for real devices; numbers only Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Sizes: see table below - DIN 43880 ('Reiheneinbaugeräte', built-in equipment) fixes the envelope that circuit breakers (MCBs), RCDs, switches, sockets and meters share on a 35 mm DIN rail: a module pitch of 18 mm with devices 17.5 mm wide (+0.5 / −0), so one-pole MCBs are one module, two-pole two, and so on. Distribution boards are specified in rows of modules ('4 × 12 TE' = four rows of 12). The standard text is paywalled; the figures below are what Phoenix Contact's housing guide quotes from it, plus maker data sheets. - Heights and depths are given per installation size (1, 2, 3): h2 / h3 max 45 / 55 / 75 mm and t2 max 55 / 70 / 92.5 mm as Phoenix prints them. How those two tables map to a real breaker is not spelled out in the sources: ABB labels an S201 as 'DIN 43880 installation size 1' with a 69 mm depth, which is above the quoted size-1 depth, so the size labels evidently apply to the height and depth classes separately. Check the standard if you rely on a size. - Real breaker sizes vary by maker: ABB S201 88 mm tall, Hager NBN 83 mm; both 17.5 mm per pole and 69 or 70 mm deep. Pole widths for 2, 3, 4 poles are n × 17.5 (35 / 52.5 / 70); Soyter's enclosure table lists 35, 52 and 70 mm, Schroff's 3 × 16 A module is 53.5 mm. - DIN 43880 describes the envelope, not the DIN rail itself: the rail is TS35 × 7.5 or × 15 (IEC / EN 60715), on the DIN rail page. The 45 mm window and the front cut-out of a cover are not given as numbers in any source read, so no cut-out file is drawn. - Not covered: breaker curves, poles' internal geometry, busbar combs, 63 A and DIN 43880 size-3 devices' real dimensions (only the standard's limits above). item mm source and note module pitch (1 TE, 'division unit') 18 Phoenix Contact quoting DIN 43880 (also Rittal: 'à 18 mm') module width, actual device 17.5 (+0.5 / −0) Phoenix Contact quoting DIN 43880; ProZ quotes the standard's text 'Teilungseinheit = 17,5 mm' 1-pole MCB width 17.5 ABB S201P-C1 and Hager NBN150A (1 module) 1-pole breaker width, Schroff module 17.7 Schroff 1 × 16 A (3 × 16 A: 53.5) 2 / 3 / 4 modules wide (enclosure lengths) 35 / 52 / 70 Soyter enclosures (listed values; 17.5 × n) minimum clearance between neighbouring devices 18 Phoenix Contact (DIN 43880) device slot, 12 modules 216 × 46 Phoenix Contact: 216 mm (12 × 18) × 46 mm height h2 / h3 max, size 1 / 2 / 3 45 / 55 / 75 Phoenix Contact, DIN 43880 table 1 depth t2 max, size 1 / 2 / 3 55 / 70 / 92.5 Phoenix Contact, DIN 43880 table 2 t4 minimum 52 Phoenix Contact distance rail upper edge to protection cover lower edge 44 (required) Phoenix Contact (Fig. 13 / 14) maximum t for housing parts in the area reachable by non-qualified persons 70 Phoenix Contact row spacing on a distribution board 150 (+ 25 mm steps for large cables) ProZ quoting the German text real 1-pole MCB, ABB S201P-C1: width × height × depth 17.5 × 88 × 69 ABB; labelled net width / height / depth; 'installation size 1'; rail TH35-7.5 or TH35-15 real 1-pole MCB, Hager NBN150A: width × height × depth 17.5 × 83 × 70 Hager Files elsewhere (not hosted by Xem Studio; license as stated by the publisher): - Phoenix Contact: Technical principles of electronics housings for DIN rail: DIN 43880 section: module pitch 18 mm, device width 17.5 +0.5 -0, heights and depths by size, device slot — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://dam-mdc.phoenixcontact.com/asset/156443151564/dfa8378cd4361e3a695bd1be65bd338a/1082999_EN_HQ_HOUSING_Basics_LoRes.pdf - ProZ (quoting the standard's German text): 'Die Norm legt eine Teilungseinheit (TE, auch Modul genannt) = 17,5 mm fest'; row spacing 150 mm — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://mlt.proz.com/kudoz/german-to-polish/computers-systems-networks/4355347-teilungseinheit.html - ABB (manualmachine copy): S201P-C1 technical data: width 17.5, height 88, depth 69, TH35-7.5 and TH35-15 rail, 'acc. to DIN 43880 1 installation size' — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://manualmachine.com/abb/s201pc1/7630340-technical-data - Hager: NBN150A MCB 1P: width 17.5 (1 module), height 83, depth 70 — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://hager.com/intl-en/products/information/nbn150a-mcb-1p-10ka-15ka-b-50a-1m - Rittal: DK 7480.035 mounting rail: DIN 43880 installation devices sizes 1 to 3, 'max.
