Drill bushings DIN 179 (headless press-fit): bore range, OD n6, lengths, 0.4 to 63 mm + STEP/STL sleeves — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/drill-bushings-din-179-headless/ (sheet CC BY 4.0) Basis: KIPP data sheet K1021 and OPAC's DIN 179 table (agree on 18 rows), JW Winco for the F7 / n6 / H7 fits; McMaster-Carr linked for CAD Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Sizes: see table below - DIN 179 is the plain press-fit drill bushing without a collar (headless): a hardened, ground steel sleeve that is pressed into a jig plate to guide a drill or reamer. The bore d1 is ground to F7, the outside d2 to n6, and the receiving hole in the plate is H7 (JW Winco: 'holes with tolerance H7 are recommended', the pair being a transition fit). Bores come in steps inside each range (OPAC's gradation column): 0.1 mm up to 1.8 mm, 0.1 or 0.25 mm up to 15 mm, 0.25 mm up to 35 mm, 0.5 mm from 35.5 to 55 mm and 1 mm from 56 mm; KIPP says only 'above 15 mm, size increases are 0.5 mm', which disagrees. - DIN 172 and DIN 179 are easy to swap: DIN 172 is the one with the collar (DIN Media: 'Press fit jig bushes, headed'), DIN 179 has none. The bodies (d1, d2, lengths) of the two are identical row for row; see the DIN 172 page for the collar. The wording 'DIN 179 headed / DIN 172 headless' sometimes seen in listings is wrong. - Where the sources agree: d2 and the short and long lengths for every row from 0.9 mm up (KIPP K1021 and OPAC 481). They differ in three ways: KIPP lists three lengths from the 2.7 to 3.3 range up (short / medium / long) and OPAC two, with OPAC's long equal to KIPP's medium; KIPP's third length equals the next row's long. KIPP starts the bore ranges above 15 mm at x.5 and OPAC at x.25. KIPP has a first row (0.4 to 0.8 mm, d2 3, l1 6) that OPAC does not; OPAC has two rows above 48 mm (d2 70 and 78) that KIPP does not. The one-source rows are marked. KIPP also prints R (1 to 3.5) and a T tolerance column without defining them; R is shown as printed and T is left out. - Files: the 18 rows read in both sources get a sleeve at the short length (bore example in the table), and five of them (bores 3, 6, 10, 12, 22) also at the long length. The bore in each file is an example inside the published range, not a standard value. Bore chamfer, edge radius (Form A has one end of the bore rounded) and the lead-in are not drawn: the sheets give R without saying where it applies. Add your process allowance to the plate hole (H7) and leave the sleeve at nominal. - Not covered: DIN 179 B (rounded at both ends), the XL lengths, the 'mould' bushes (ISO 8018 is a different part), slip and renewable bushings, and bores above 63 mm. bore d1 range, mm (F7) OD d2, mm (n6) l1 short, mm l1 long, mm (KIPP: medium) l1 extra long, mm (KIPP only) R, mm (KIPP, as printed) example bore in the file, mm sources 0.4 – 0.8 3 6 — — 1 — KIPP 0.9 – 1 3 6 9 — 1 1 KIPP + OPAC 1.1 – 1.8 4 6 9 — 1 1.5 KIPP + OPAC 1.9 – 2.6 5 6 9 — 1 2 KIPP + OPAC 2.7 – 3.3 6 8 12 16 1 3 KIPP + OPAC 3.4 – 4 7 8 12 16 1 4 KIPP + OPAC 4.1 – 5 8 8 12 16 1 5 KIPP + OPAC 5.1 – 6 10 10 16 20 1.5 6 KIPP + OPAC 6.1 – 8 12 10 16 20 1.5 8 KIPP + OPAC 8.1 – 10 15 12 20 25 2 10 KIPP + OPAC 10.1 – 12 18 12 20 25 2 12 KIPP + OPAC 12.1 – 15 22 16 28 36 2 15 KIPP + OPAC 15.5 – 18 (OPAC: from 15.25) 26 16 28 36 2 18 KIPP + OPAC 18.5 – 22 (OPAC: from 18.25) 30 20 36 45 3 22 KIPP + OPAC 22.5 – 26 (OPAC: from 22.25) 35 20 36 45 3 26 KIPP + OPAC 26.5 – 30 (OPAC: from 26.25) 42 25 45 56 3 30 KIPP + OPAC 30.5 – 35 (OPAC: from 30.25) 48 25 45 56 3 35 KIPP + OPAC 35.5 – 42 55 30 56 67 3.5 42 KIPP + OPAC 42.5 – 48 62 30 56 67 3.5 48 KIPP + OPAC 48.5 – 55 70 30 56 — — — OPAC only 56 – 63 78 35 67 — — — OPAC only Files elsewhere (not hosted by Xem Studio; license as stated by the publisher): - KIPP (via marek.eu): K1021 drill bushes DIN 179: D1 range, D2 (n6), L1 short / medium / long, R, T; D1 F7 — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://www.marek.eu/data/katalogove-listy/kipp/K1021.pdf - OPAC: DIN 179 drill bushes headless, form A: bore range, OD, short / long length — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://www.opac.net/en/producto-481-din-179 - JW Winco: DIN 179 press-fit drill bushings: d1 F7, d2 n6, H7 receiving bore recommended, H7/n6 transition fit; CAD downloads on the part pages — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://www.jwwinco.mx/en-us/products/product-family/Stainless-Steel/DIN-179-Stainless-Steel-Press-Fit-Drill-Bushings - McMaster-Carr: Drill bushings (press-fit, headed and plain, inch and metric) (free STEP/IGES per part, for your own design use; no redistribution) — STEP, IGES, PDF — McMaster-Carr site terms: personal design use, no redistribution [verify license at link] — https://www.mcmaster.com/products/drill-bushings/ Free files (CC BY 4.0, Xem Studio; STEP + STL, 23 parts): https://xemstudio.com/files/hardware/drill-bushings-din-179-headless/index.json API: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=drill-bushings-din-179-headless
