# Fixed handles, DIN 39 (steel / plastic), Ø16–36: stud thread, pin diameter, length and hex key

> What are the dimensions of a DIN 39 fixed handle, and what thread and length does each diameter have?

- Category: Hardware › Knobs, handles & feet
- Kind: Standard part
- Basis: Ganter's DIN 39 fixed handle page (five diameters, steel and plastic); numbers only
- Page: https://xemstudio.com/objects/fixed-handles-din-39/ · JSON: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=fixed-handles-din-39 · Plain text: https://xemstudio.com/objects/fixed-handles-din-39/sheet.txt

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no tolerance added. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- Ganter's columns in the order printed: d1 (handle diameter), d2 h8 (the plain pin of type D, steel), d3 (the M thread of the stud of type E, steel), the M thread of the plastic version (KT), d4 h13, l1 ≈ (length), l2, l3 and the internal hexagon A/F (hex key). The page prints no units (taken as mm, as for handle diameters 16 to 36) and does not define d4, l2 or l3 in text. A dash means the page shows no plastic (KT) thread for that diameter (16 and 36). The page says the official DIN sheet also lists sizes 10 and 13, which this table does not.
- Shape: the page does not describe the handle in words. Its URL names are 'ballengriffe' (German, ball handles), 'poignées bombées' (French) and 'ogivali' (Italian), and its keywords say 'cylindrical handle'; the sources disagree, so no shape is claimed here. In the Ganter catalogue a U-shaped handle is a separate item (GN 426, see u-handles-gn-426-pull-handles); DIN 39 is not a U-handle.
- No file: the grip profile is not given as numbers. McMaster-Carr sells grip-type handles and knobs with per-part STEP; linked, not copied.

## Questions

**What is the length of a Ø25 DIN 39 handle?**

l1 ≈ 80 with an M10 stud (type E) or a Ø10 h8 pin (type D); the hex key is 5 mm A/F.

**What threads do DIN 39 handles have?**

M6, M8, M10, M12, M16 for the steel stud (Ø16 to 36); the plastic version is listed with M8, M10, M12 for Ø20, 25, 32.

**Is DIN 39 a U-handle?**

No. Ganter's U-shaped cabinet handles are GN 426; DIN 39 is a fixed handle on a stud or pin.
