# Hand-truck wheels 8 and 10 in: 4.10/3.50-4 tire, 5/8 in bearing bore, 2-1/4 in offset hub length, tread width and bearing size (maker and distributor listings)

> What are the dimensions of a hand truck wheel: diameter, bore, hub length and axle size for 8 in and 10 in wheels?

- Category: Hardware › Casters & wheels
- Kind: Standard part
- Basis: Six maker and distributor listings read for this page (Mapp Caster, Colson via Caster Specialists, B&P and CasterHQ via Zoro, Rapids Wholesale); hand-truck wheels are not covered by a published standard, so these are catalog figures; numbers only
- Page: https://xemstudio.com/objects/hand-truck-wheels-8-and-10-in/ · JSON: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=hand-truck-wheels-8-and-10-in · Plain text: https://xemstudio.com/objects/hand-truck-wheels-8-and-10-in/sheet.txt

## Notes

- Hand-truck wheels are sold in 8 in and 10 in diameters (the pneumatic tire size 4.10/3.50-4 is the 10 in wheel on a 4 in rim), on a 5/8 in axle, with an offset hub: the hub sticks out of the wheel's inboard side so the wheel sits clear of the frame. Across the listings the hub length is 2-1/4 in (2.250 in) and the bearing inside is 5/8 in ID; the 1-3/8 in 'plain bore' in the Mapp and Colson listings is the hub hole before bearings. There is no standard that fixes these numbers: they are the common catalog sizes of six listings.
- Disagreements kept: the B&P listing's URL names a 3-1/4 in hub but its specification table says 2 1/4 in; Mapp's 611825 title says 8 × 2.75 but its spec table says a 2 in tread; CasterHQ's tread width and hub length are read from the size name, not a labelled spec. Tread width is therefore not stated as a standard for the 8 in size (2, 2.5 and 2.75 all appear). Rim width and flange diameter were not in any listing and are not given.
- To mate a wheel to an axle or a frame: the axle is 5/8 in (15.875 mm) with the bearings inside the offset hub, so a frame axle bore or a cart fork must clear 5/8 in; hub length 2.250 in (57.15 mm) is the space the hub needs beside the frame. Treat the wheel's own listed dimensions as the final word, since makers vary.
- No files: a pneumatic or solid wheel's profile (tread section, rim, hub bell) is not published by these sources as numbers. Not here: caster wheels (see caster-top-plate-patterns), wheelbarrow wheels, cart wheels with other axle sizes and wheels over 10 in.
