# Hand wheels DIN 950 (cast iron) and GN 322 (aluminium): diameter, bore H7, hub, rim width, length, handle, 80 to 250 mm

> What are the dimensions of a DIN 950 or GN 322 spoked handwheel: wheel diameter, bore, hub diameter, hub length, overall height and handle position?

- Category: Hardware › Knobs, handles & feet
- Kind: Standard part
- Basis: Elesa-Ganter DIN 950 and GN 322 sheets, cross-checked against Maedler's DIN 950 sheet (hub, lengths) and Monroe Engineering's GN 322 inch sheet

## Notes

- Spoked handwheels (hand wheels) for shafts and spindles: DIN 950 in cast iron (GG, turned and polished rim; 3 spokes up to 200 mm and 5 at 250 mm in the Elesa 2019 sheet) and the Ganter GN 322 in aluminium (rim turned and polished, run-out under 0.4 mm). Both have an H7 reamed bore, plain (B) or with a keyway to DIN 6885/1 with P9 (K). Type A has no handle, type D (DIN 950) or R (GN 322) a revolving handle: DIN 950-D takes a threaded handle (M6 to M12 in d4), GN 322 the GN 798 revolving handle (Ø22 to Ø25).
- What the letters mean: Elesa's 2019 DIN 950 sheet prints d1 (wheel), d2 H7 (bore), d3, b, l1, l2. Maedler's DIN 950 sheet (K43_865) gives for the same wheels d3 as the hub diameter, l1 as the hub length 'complying with DIN 950' and l2 as the overall length; its numbers equal Elesa's d3, l1 and l2 for the rows read (80, 100, 125 and 140 mm); b is read as the rim width (the Maedler drawing labels b1 as the rim width on its sister sheet K43_862). For GN 322 Monroe's inch sheet prints D = wheel, L = 33 (= l2), B = 15 (= b), d1 = 31 (= d3) and h = 18 (= l1) for the 125 mm size, which fixes the meaning. Elesa's newer (2/2026) DIN 950 sheet uses a different letter set (its example row prints 14 as d3 and 24 as d4), so letters from that sheet are not used; the numbers here follow the 2019 sheet and Maedler.
- Where not stated: the number of spokes for GN 322 is not on the sheets read (not shown), the DIN 950 spoke and rim profile is not published as numbers, and DIN 950 aluminium (AL) and square-bore (V) versions and sizes 315 to 500 mm are on Elesa's 2026 sheet but could not be read as a table. The keyway and bore columns apply to both wheel types; the available bores per wheel Ø are the two shown in the sheets (the inch bores are Monroe's: GN 322-125 with 1/2 in, 140 to 200 with 5/8 in, 250 with 3/4 in).
- Numbers only: a handwheel's rim and spoke cross-sections are not given as numbers, so no file is made. Hub (d3 × l1), bore, overall height and handle position are enough to model a stand-in disc and a hub; the keyway is a DIN 6885 slot (see the parallel keys page).
