## Notes

- HIWIN MGN is the miniature profile-rail family: MGNR rail with an MGNC (standard, short) or MGNH (long) block; MGN5 rails and small blocks are for micro mechanisms, MGN9, 12 and 15 are the 3D-printer / CNC sizes. Letters as in HIWIN's catalog: W / WR width, H / HR height (H from the rail bottom to the block top), B x C the four block holes (B across, C along), L1 body length, L overall length, N distance from the rail side to the block side, H1 clearance under the block, D x h x d the rail counterbore, P the hole pitch, E the end distance.
- Numbers: two HIWIN catalogs, read independently, agree on all of this: the MG Series 2025 catalog (Motion Industries copy) and the MGN and MGW product catalog 2023 (Damen CNC copy). They differ only in the rail mounting screw: M2 x 6 / M2 x 6 (MGN5, special screw), M2 x 6 / M2 x 8 (MGN7), M3 x 8 / M3 x 10 (MGN9, 12), M3 x 10 / M3 x 12 (MGN15): the first is the MG Series 2025 value, the second the 2023 catalog. Both are shown. The 2023 catalog also prints the allowed end distance range E1/2 (4 to 11 on MGNR5 up to 6 to 34 on MGNR15) and the maximum rail length; the 2025 catalog prints E as a single standard value (5 / 5 / 7.5 / 10 / 15).
- What is new on this site: MGN5 and MGN7 rails and the MGN7 blocks, the block's H1, N and B1, the rail end-distance range and screw lengths. The existing mgn-linear-rails page holds the MGN9 / 12 / 15 rail and block envelopes as files; its rail and block values match this table (rail 9 x 6.5, 12 x 8, 15 x 10 with the same hole pitches; MGN9C L 28.9 and 9H 39.9, 12C 34.7 and 12H 45.4, 15H 58.8). MGN5 blocks (MGN5C-O / 5H-O outer-recirculation) are not shown: the MG 2025 text reads only partly (H 6, W 12, B 8, L 16 for the C-O block).
- Numbers only for the new sizes, no CAD files: the catalog prints the envelope and the hole pattern, not the rail groove or the block section. Use HIWIN's CAD data for the real shape (linked under sources). The wide MGW series is not covered.
- Left out: MGN5 blocks, MGW (wide) rails and blocks, accuracy classes, load ratings, weights of blocks.

**What are the MGN7 rail dimensions?**

7 mm wide, 4.8 mm high, holes every 15 mm with the first at 5 mm, counterbore 4.2 x 2.3 deep, through hole 2.4, for M2 screws (6 to 8 mm long by catalog edition).

**What are the MGN7C block holes?**

Four M2 x 2.5 holes, 12 mm across by 8 mm along; block 17 wide, 8 high, 22.5 long (the MGN7H is 30.8 long, holes 13 mm along).

**Does the MGN5 have standard blocks?**

Only the MGN5C-O / 5H-O (outer recirculation) block was in the text read, and its row is partly illegible, so it is not shown.
