# HTD generator drive: 210 T crank gear and a 2208 bracket (14 : 1)

> How do I gear a generator to a slow Stirling engine?

- Category: Stirling engines › Tri-clamp engine parts
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Module 1, 20° involute (ISO 53) as the site's spur gears; the catalog's 15 T pinion, its 2208 adaptor and the 2208 envelope

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- 210 : 15 = 14 : 1 at 112.5 centre distance: at 150 rpm the 2208 (KV 128, 14.4 Ω, published) turns 2100 rpm and makes 16.4 V open circuit.
- The bracket bolts to the seal cap's outer face with three M4; the motor's base takes four M3 countersunk screws from the bracket's back.

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

## Questions

**Why gear up 14 : 1?**

A slow engine turns a small generator too slowly to make useful voltage; 14 : 1 puts the 2208 near 2000 rpm.
