Lead screw and nut-slide (rotation to straight travel), Tr10×2 — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/lead-screw-and-slide-mechanism/ (sheet CC BY 4.0; files Xem Studio Design License, https://xemstudio.com/license/) Basis: Xem Studio design following Brown No. 103 (1868) Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Sizes: see table below - A screw held axially in two bearings turns; a nut that cannot turn (its foot runs in a rail slot) must then travel along the screw: 2 mm per turn for a Tr10×2 thread. Either direction of rotation gives the opposite travel. - Travel per turn = lead; force gain (ideal) = 2π × lever radius / lead, 2π × 40 / 2 = 126 with the 80 mm tommy bar; the 30° trapezoidal thread is self-locking at this lead angle (3.6°). - Brown's No. 103 (rectilinear motion of a slide by the rotation of a screw): the carriage feed of lathes, slides and stages. Basic-profile thread drawn engaged, no allowance. - Parts (each has its own page): lead-screw-tr10x2-l80-journals-6, nut-slide-tr10x2-16x24-rail-foot, lead-screw-frame-120-tr10x2, tommy-bar-6x80. - Brown's movement No. 103 (1868) shows it; this model is a Xem Studio design following his figure, every part at true size. parameter value thread Tr10×2 travel per turn 2 mm slide travel ≈ 60 mm lever 80 mm tommy bar Files elsewhere (not hosted by Xem Studio; license as stated by the publisher): - Henry T.
