## Notes

- Sanitary (dairy, brewing, food, pharma) stainless tube is sized by outside diameter in inches, so a 2 in tri-clamp ferrule is welded to 2.000 in OD tube; the OD equals the tube-stub OD of the ferrules on sanitary-clamp-caps-ferrules-spools and tri-clamp-ferrule (12.7, 19.05, 25.4, 38.1, 50.8, 63.5, 76.2, 101.6 mm). ASTM A270 is the sanitary tubing specification (seamless and welded; Wayland's sheet is for polished A270 tubing). ASTM A269 is the general-service austenitic stainless tubing specification; no A269 size table was read, so it is not tabulated here.
- Walls are by gauge: 18 ga 0.049 in, 16 ga 0.065 in, 14 ga 0.083 in, 12 ga 0.109 in. Wayland and Ace list the same wall for every size they share: 16 ga from 1/2 (Wayland) / 1 (Ace) to 3 in, 14 ga for 4 in, 12 ga for 6 and 8 in; Engineering ToolBox lists one wall per size and agrees with Wayland at every size it lists (1/2 to 4 in, 6 in, 8 in); it has no 5, 10 or 12 in. 18 ga (0.049 in) is listed by Ace for 1/2, 3/4 and 1 in only; Wayland lists 5 in at 14 ga (0.083 in), Ace has no 5 in, and 10 and 12 in at 12 ga are Wayland only. Note that 6 in is 12 gauge (0.109 in) in all three sources, not 14 gauge.
- Weight per foot is as printed (Wayland, Ace in lb/ft; Engineering ToolBox in kg/m); every Wayland and Ace weight equals 10.78 × (OD − wall) × wall lb/ft, the formula Ace prints for 300-series stainless, to within 2 % (Wayland rounds to two decimals; checked here). Wayland also prints a wall tolerance of ±10 % on all sizes. Working and burst pressures printed by Wayland are not copied. Polished-finish figures are a finish note, not a dimension.
- ID = OD − 2 × wall (derived, in mm). Example: 1-1/2 in OD, 16 ga: 38.10 − 3.30 = 34.80 mm, the bore of the 1-1/2 in ferrule on the clamp-fittings pages. Metric tube to DIN 11850 / ISO 1127 has different ODs (29, 35, 41, 53 ...): stainless-tube-din-11850-en-10357-iso-1127.
- Files: 100 mm hollow sections, one per (OD, wall) that at least two of the three sources list. 18 ga walls (Ace only) and the 5, 10, 12 in sizes (Wayland only) are in the table without a file. The length is Xem's example length.
