Steel pipe ASME B36.10M: OD and wall thickness by NPS and schedule (Sch 10, 40, STD, 80, XS, 160, XXS), NPS 1/8 to 24 + hollow pipe STEP/STL — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/steel-pipe-asme-b36-10m-nps-1-8-to-24/ (sheet CC BY 4.0) Basis: Wall thickness from the Engineering ToolBox nominal-wall table (B36.10), mm values cross-checked against Project Materials' mm table, Wermac and Misumi; the standard is paywalled and was not read Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Sizes: see table below - ASME B36.10M covers welded and seamless wrought steel pipe (carbon and alloy). The nominal pipe size (NPS) is a name, not a measurement: the OD is fixed per NPS (NPS 1/8 to 12 are 0.405 to 12.750 in, NPS 14 and up equal the OD in inches) and the schedule picks the wall, so the bore changes with schedule. The OD is given in inches in the standard; the mm column here is the inch value x 25.4, to 0.01 mm. Bore = OD - 2 x wall. - How the numbers were checked: the walls (inches) are from the Engineering ToolBox nominal-wall table, which follows B36.10; every printed wall is below half the OD and rises with the schedule number in every row. Each mm value here (inch x 25.4, rounded half up, so 0.375 in = 9.53 mm and 0.500 in = 12.70 mm) was matched against the mm table of Project Materials; every one of the walls shown has a matching mm value there. The inch table also agrees with Wermac's NPS 12 and 14 pages (every Sch 10 to 160 wall) and with Misumi's Sch 10 / 40 / 80 columns where its rows are aligned. NPS 1/2 Sch 160 is printed as 0.187 in next to 4.78 mm (which is 0.188 in); both are shown as published, so for that one cell the mm is not inch x 25.4. - Schedule rules visible in the table: STD equals Sch 40 up to NPS 10 and is 0.375 in from NPS 12 up; XS equals Sch 80 up to NPS 8 and is 0.500 in from NPS 10 up; XXS is a separate wall that has no Sch number (NPS 1/2 to 12 here). A dash means the sources read print no wall for that size and schedule (for example Sch 20 and 30 start at NPS 8, Sch 160 and XXS do not exist below NPS 1/2, NPS 3-1/2 has no Sch 160 or XXS, NPS 22 has no Sch 40). Wermac's NPS 1/8 to 1-1/2 page prints some more cells (Sch 30 for the small sizes, Sch 160 and XXS for NPS 1/8 to 3/8) that Engineering ToolBox and Project Materials do not print; they are left out. Project Materials also prints a Sch 160 / XXS 16.15 mm (0.636 in) wall for NPS 3-1/2 that no other source read has; left out. - Sch 10 for NPS 1/8 to 12 has the same wall as stainless 10S (0.049 to 0.180 in); from NPS 14 up, Sch 10 is 0.250 in while the stainless 10S is 0.188 in (see the stainless B36.19M page). The existing schedule-40-pipe page keeps the PVC / Sch 40 sizes NPS 1/2 to 2 with 50 mm stubs; this page is the complete steel table and its files start at NPS 2-1/2. - Files: 24 plain hollow tubes, 100 mm long: Sch 40 and Sch 80 for NPS 2-1/2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12; Sch 160 and XXS for NPS 2-1/2, 3, 4, 6. OD and wall are the table values; the 100 mm length is an example. No bevel, no seam, no mill tolerance (the standard allows -12.5% on wall; a pipe is not exactly the table wall). Pipe is bought in lengths (typically 20 ft / 6 m), so cut your own length. - Left out: NPS above 24, Sch 5 and 5S (see stainless page for 5S), Sch 20 / 30 on the sizes the sources do not print, tolerances, weights per metre. The standard itself (ASME B36.10M-2018) is paywalled and was not read; the numbers above come from the secondary tables listed under sources.
