# Stretched X frame

> What is a stretched X frame?

- Category: Drone design › Drone frame layouts
- Kind: Standard part
- Basis: Design rules and figures from the cited sources; example geometry by Xem Studio

**Exact dimensions.** True size, with no printing tolerance added.

## Notes

- A stretched X moves motors further apart front-to-back. Pilots link it to racing and pitch stability at speed (IntoFPV); UAVModel lists reduced yaw and roll vs maximum pitch authority, with props in view.
- Unequal spacing gives two arm resonance frequencies, so filtering is more complex (UAVModel).
- The file is a reference example built by Xem Studio from the numbers above (Reference 5-inch build: 220 mm diagonal within Grepow's 210-250 mm class for 5 in props.). Sizes the sources do not fix are illustrative; scale the example to your own vehicle.

## Sizes

| parameter | value or range | source |
|---|---|---|
| Layout | stretched front-to-back | UAVModel |
| 5 in prop frame size | 210-250 mm diagonal (motor to motor) | Grepow |

## Questions

**Is it better for racing?**

Pilots associate it with speed, but differences are small (IntoFPV).
