## Notes

- A channel nut is a rectangular nut with two grooves across its top: it goes in through the 7/8 in slot, is turned 90°, and the grooves seat on the inturned lips. A spring under it holds it up against the lips while you fit the bolt.
- Neither Unistrut nor B-Line publishes the nut's width, length, groove spacing or depth, so Xem draws no nut file: measure a real nut, or design around the channel lip and slot numbers on the channel page.
- Deep channels (1-5/8, 1-3/8, 2-7/16, 3-1/4 in) and shallow ones (13/16, 7/8, 1 in) use different spring lengths; check the nut family against the channel height.
- Design loads below are the maker's, with a safety factor of at least 3, for 12 ga deep channel.

- Eaton B-Line: [B-Line series strut systems: Channel nuts & hardware section (thread, nut thickness)](https://media.cityelectricsupply.com/media/blinebyeaton/n225-zn-1-2/documents/bline_brochure_929743.pdf) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts

## Questions

**Does Unistrut publish channel nut dimensions?**

No: only thread size, weight and loads. B-Line prints the nut thickness (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 in for 1/4-20, 3/8-16, 1/2-13).

**What holds a channel nut in strut?**

Two grooves across the nut seat on the channel's 9/32 in deep inturned lips; the bolt pulls the nut up against them.
