## Notes

- Standard (Imperial) wire gauge, also called the British Standard Gauge, from the table on Wikipedia, which cites BS 3737:1964 (withdrawn; the current British standard for metallic materials is BS 6722:1986). Cross-checked against the Engineering ToolBox SWG table: all inch values are the same and all mm values agree to rounding, with one disagreement: for gauge 0 (written 1/0 on the Engineering ToolBox) Wikipedia prints 8.230 mm, Engineering ToolBox 8.236 mm. 0.324 in × 25.4 is 8.2296 mm, so the Wikipedia number is shown and the other is not used.
- SWG is not AWG: 10 SWG is 0.128 in, 10 AWG is 0.1019 in (see the AWG page). SWG is used for wire in the UK, for some sheet and for wire gauges quoted on jewellery and musical wire in British catalogues; sheet metal gauge numbers are a third, different series (see the sheet gauge page).
- Diameters only: no area, mass or resistance is on the sources read for SWG, so none is shown. No files: a wire is a plain cylinder.
