Hex threaded standoffs M4, M5, M6 and #4-40, #6-32: across flats per size, female-female and male-female lengths (Würth, Keystone) — dimension sheet Source: Xem Studio, https://xemstudio.com/objects/threaded-standoffs-hex-m4-m6-and-inch/ (sheet CC BY 4.0) Basis: Würth Elektronik spacer-stud datasheet (WA-SSTII, steel) with RS listings for M-F and long bodies, and Keystone Electronics 4-40 and 6-32 catalogue pages; mm and in as printed; 13 envelope files Catalog version: 2026-10-20 Overall (mm): length 11.5, width 10.0, height 55.0 - Hex standoffs in these sizes are not standardized by an ISO / DIN number; the hex across flats is the maker's. Würth steel spacer studs: M4 comes in 7 mm hex (RS lists the 5 mm to 95 mm bodies) and 8 mm hex, M5 in 8 mm hex, M6 in 10 mm hex (M2.5 5 mm; M3 5 / 5.5 / 6 mm are on threaded-standoffs-metric). Keystone prints the hex 'O.D.': #4-40 .187 in and .250 in, #6-32 .250 in. - How the Würth rows were read: the datasheet's row mapping is not tabular on the copy read, so each length was mapped from the order code (970 LL SS 1, LL the length in mm, SS the size code); the mapping agrees with the RS listings that were read: M4 5 mm body 7 mm hex (RS 2053051), M4 25 mm body 7 mm hex, M5 50 mm body 8 mm hex. The datasheet's own list stops at 20 mm for M4 and M5, while RS lists longer bodies of the same series, so the lengths shown are not the whole range. - Male-female: RS prints stud length and hex for four Würth parts: M4 with an 8 mm stud (8 mm body and a 10 mm body, order code 971100471, both read at 7 mm hex; RS titles also show 12 and 45 mm bodies with an 8 mm stud), and M6 with a 10 mm stud, 45 mm body, 10 mm hex. The stud is the same thread as the female end. Keystone's two male-female datasheets (aluminum 8714 #4-40 and 8440 #8-32) print O.D. and a 'threaded length' but not the stud length against the overall length, so they are shown but not drawn. Keystone's catalogue page for #4-40 groups the hex rows by O.D. in a way that the copy read does not make fully clear; the two length sets are the best reading. - Files: hex prisms at the published across-flats and lengths, 13 envelopes: female-female bodies with a plain through bore at the thread major diameter (M4 Ø4, M5 Ø5, M6 Ø6 mm; #4-40 Ø2.845, #6-32 Ø3.505 mm) and three male-female with a solid stud of the thread major diameter on a bored body. The thread, thread depth and the chamfers are not drawn (depth is only printed as 5 mm for the M4 8 mm listing and 10 mm for the M5 50 mm listing). No #8-32 female-female table was found (the Keystone 8-32 pages read are male-female datasheets); left out rather than inferred. type thread hex across flats (SW, or Keystone O.D.) body length L (mm, or in for Keystone) stud length (mm) notes Würth WA-SSTII female-female M4 7 5, 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 (RS also lists 25, 35, 40, 45, 60, 95; 7 mm hex read for 5 and 25) – RS: hole depth 5 mm (8 mm body listing) Würth WA-SSTII female-female M4 8 8, 10, 12, 15 – Würth WA-SSTII female-female M5 8 8, 10, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20 (50 in an RS listing) – RS: hole depth 10 mm (50 mm body listing) Würth WA-SSTII female-female M6 10 10 – Würth male-female M4 7 8 (stud 8), 10 (stud 8, order code 971100471); RS titles also list 12 and 45 mm bodies with an 8 mm stud 8 RS: 7 mm hex read for the 8 and 10 mm bodies; outside diameter 4 mm (8 mm body), 7 mm (10 mm body) Würth male-female M6 10 45 10 RS: outside diameter 6 mm Keystone female-female, brass / aluminum / stainless / nylon #4-40 O.D. .187 in (4.7 mm) .250, .375, .500, .625, .750, .875, 1.000 in – hex O.D. as printed by Keystone Keystone female-female #4-40 O.D. .250 in (6.3 mm) .250 to 1.000 in in 1/8 steps, 1.500, 2.000 in – hex O.D. as printed by Keystone Keystone female-female #6-32 O.D. .250 in (6.4 mm) .250, .375, .500, .625, .750, .875, 1.000, 1.250, 1.500, 1.750, 2.000, 2.250, 2.500 in – hex O.D. as printed by Keystone Keystone male-female (datasheet 8714, aluminum) #4-40 .250 in (6.4 mm) O.D. .250 in (6.4 mm) L threaded length .187 in (4.75 mm) stud / total relation not printed Keystone male-female (datasheet 8440, aluminum) #8-32 .250 in (6.4 mm) O.D. 3.000 in (76.2 mm) L threaded length .375 in (9.53 mm) stud / total relation not printed Files elsewhere (not hosted by Xem Studio; license as stated by the publisher): - Wuerth Elektronik eiSos: Steel spacer stud with metric thread, internal / internal (WA-SSTII, 970 xxx xx1): thread, SW, L (datasheet as read; row mapping from the order codes) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://pdf.jiepei.com/970450321-33375354.html - Wuerth Elektronik eiSos: Spacer studs internal / internal thread (WA-SSTII, WA-SBRII): M3 rows SW and L — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://www.we-online.com/en/components/products/em/assembly/assembly_spacer_studs/spacer_studs_internal_internal_thread - RS Components (Wuerth WA-SSTII): M4 5 mm body, hex across flats 7 mm, female-female (RS 2053051) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://ie.rs-online.com/web/p/standoffs/2053051 - RS Components (Wuerth): M4 8 mm body, 8 mm stud, hex across flats 7 mm, outside diameter 4 mm, hole depth 5 mm (RS 2052975) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://twen.rs-online.com/web/p/standoffs/2052975 - RS Components (Wuerth 971100471): M4 male-female, body 10 mm, stud 8 mm, hex across flats 7 mm, outside diameter 7 mm (RS 1768065) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://nz.rs-online.com/web/p/standoffs/1768065/ - RS Components (Wuerth): M6 45 mm body, 10 mm stud, hex across flats 10 mm, outside diameter 6 mm (RS 2053005) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://twen.rs-online.com/web/p/standoffs/2053005 - RS Components (Wuerth): M5 female-female 50 mm body, hex across flats 8 mm, hole depth 10 mm (RS 2053082) — web — Publisher's page; dimensions are facts — https://twcn.rs-online.com/web/p/standoffs/2053082 - Keystone Electronics: Hex and round threaded standoffs, 4-40 threads, .187 [4.7] or .250 [6.3] O.D.
