# Transfer elbow for 4 × 6 mm tube: a 90° turn in a syringe engine's transfer line

> How do I turn a 4 mm ID silicone transfer line through 90° between two syringe tips?

- Category: Stirling engines › Drives & mechanisms
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Tube sizes from the silicone-tube entry (4 ID × 6 OD); sockets drawn at the tube OD, flow bore at the tube ID

## Overall (mm)

| length | width | height |
|---|---|---|
| 18.0 | 18.0 | 10 |

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- Two Ø10 arms at 90° meet in a rounded corner. Each arm ends in a port face 13 mm from the corner with a Ø6 socket 8 deep: the 6 mm OD tube pushes in until its end bottoms 5 mm from the corner. A Ø4 flow bore (the tube's ID) joins the two socket floors through the corner.
- Used where a transfer line has to turn: two on the can engine (up from the cap barb, across, up into the Luer tip), two on the Ross yoke alpha (tips up, 40 mm apart: up, across, down), three on the alpha V-twin (tips pointing away from each other at ±45°).
- The sockets take the tube's OD exactly (see Mating features).

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

| feature | exact | mates with | fit | files |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sockets | Ø6 × 8 | 6 mm OD of 4 × 6 tube | press | transfer-elbow-* |
| flow bore | Ø4 | 4 mm tube ID (no contact) | designed | transfer-elbow-* |

## Sizes

| feature | size_mm |
|---|---|
| arm OD | 10 |
| port face from corner | 13.0 |
| socket | Ø6 × 8 |
| tube end from corner | 5.0 |
| flow bore | Ø4 |

## Questions

**How far does the tube go into the transfer elbow?**

8 mm, to the socket floor; the tube end then sits 5 mm from the corner and the Ø4 bore carries on round it.
