# 2 in double-faced guide plate for a hollow Ø10 piston rod

> How do I guide a piston rod inside a tri-clamp crankcase?

- Category: Hardware › Stirling & thermoacoustic
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: ISO 2852 faces on both sides as the clamp-in bearing plate on this site; bushing size from its standard
- Page: https://xemstudio.com/objects/tri-clamp-guide-plate/ · JSON: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=tri-clamp-guide-plate · Plain text: https://xemstudio.com/objects/tri-clamp-guide-plate/sheet.txt

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- Clamped between the power cylinder and the reducer with a gasket and a clamp on each face. Two 10 × 14 × 15 sleeve bushings 48.4 mm apart guide the hollow piston rod, so the con-rod's side load never reaches the piston. Four Ø8 vents connect the back of the piston to the crankcase (the buffer).

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

| feature | exact | mates with | fit | files |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| faces | ISO 2852 2 in both sides, 16 apart | Type B gaskets, 2 in clamps | clamp | all |
| bushing seats | Ø14 × 15 at z −2.4 and 46 | 10 × 14 × 15 sleeve bushings | press | all |
| vents | 4 × Ø8 on r 17 | buffer passage (no contact) | designed | all |

## Sizes

| feature | value |
|---|---|
| thickness | 16.0 |
| boss | Ø22, z −2.4 to 61 |
| seats | Ø14 × 15 at both ends |
| vents | 4 × Ø8 on r 17 |

## Questions

**Why two bushings?**

One bushing is a pivot; two 48 mm apart hold the rod straight.
