# Frame for the 2 in tri-clamp sealed diaphragm generator

> What holds the tri-clamp sealed diaphragm generator on the bench?

- Category: Hardware › Stirling & thermoacoustic
- Kind: Hardware
- Basis: Positions from the engine layout (tools/gen_sealed_generator.py layout); ISO 273 medium clearance for M5; Ø3.3 for an M4 thread
- Page: https://xemstudio.com/objects/tri-clamp-sealed-generator-frame/ · JSON: https://xemstudio.com/api/geometry?object=tri-clamp-sealed-generator-frame · Plain text: https://xemstudio.com/objects/tri-clamp-sealed-generator-frame/sheet.txt

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your printer's or process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- One piece: a base plate with the torch stand and the burner shroud on it, and a wall behind the engine. The spool hanger clamps the cross's lower run and its bar bolts to the wall with two M5 × 25 and nuts, so the whole engine hangs over the flame.
- A window in the wall leaves room for the shroud, the jacket and its fill ports.

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

| feature | exact | mates with | fit | files |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| hanger holes | 2 × Ø5.5 | M5 clearance (ISO 273 medium) | designed | all |
| torch-stand and shroud holes | 5 × Ø3.3 (M4 tapped) | shcs-m4x10 | designed | all |
| wall face | flat, 39.4 from the engine axis | spool hanger bar | designed | all |

## Sizes

| feature | value |
|---|---|
| base | 180 × 170 × 8 |
| wall | 150 × 10, top 297.6 |
| window | x ±57, to 233.8 |
| hanger screws | 2 × Ø5.5 at x ±39.4, z 279.6 |
| torch stand | 2 × Ø3.3 at x ±25, y 28 |
| shroud feet | 3 × Ø3.3 at (±59, 0), (0, −59) |

## Questions

**What does the frame carry?**

The torch stand and the shroud on the base, and the engine on the spool hanger at the wall.
