# True X quad frame

> What is a true X quadcopter frame?

**Exact dimensions.** True size, with no printing tolerance added.

## Notes

- A true X puts four motors on equal arms 90 deg apart, in a square (UAVModel). Roll and pitch behave the same, so tuning is simplest, and one filter notch covers all arms.
- It has the best yaw response, but the two front props show in the camera's upper corners (UAVModel; IntoFPV).
- The file is a reference example built by Xem Studio from the numbers above (Reference 5-inch build: 220 mm diagonal within Grepow's 210-250 mm class for 5 in props.). Sizes the sources do not fix are illustrative; scale the example to your own vehicle.

## Sizes

| parameter | value or range | source |
|---|---|---|
| Arm spacing | 90 deg | UAVModel; Oscar Liang |
| 5 in prop frame size | 210-250 mm diagonal (motor to motor) | Grepow |
| 5 in arm thickness | 5 mm standard; resonance ~180-220 Hz | UAVModel |

## Questions

**Why choose true X?**

Symmetric handling and the cleanest tune (UAVModel).
