# Wheel bolt patterns (PCD and lug count): 4x100, 5x114.3, 5x120, 6x139.7, 8x6.5 and more, with makes, hub bore, stud thread + 15 hole-pattern templates

> What bolt pattern do I have: how many lugs and what PCD is 5x114.3, 5x120, 6x139.7 or 8x165.1, and which makes use it?

- Category: Hardware › Casters & wheels
- Kind: Standard part
- Basis: Pattern list from tiresizes.com (47 patterns); makes cross-checked on four aggregator pages; hub bore and stud thread from wheel-sizes.com and rerev.com model tables; inch conversions and hole spacing computed; hole-pattern templates are Xem-drawn

## Overall (mm)

| length | width | height |
|---|---|---|
| 210.0 | 210.0 | 6.0 |

**Exact dimensions.** Every file is drawn at true size with no tolerance added. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your process's clearance before making the part.

## Notes

- A wheel bolt pattern is two numbers: the number of lug holes and the diameter of the circle through their centres, the pitch circle diameter (PCD, also bolt circle diameter). 5x114.3 means 5 holes on a 114.3 mm circle; the same pattern is written 5x4.5 or '5 on 4.5' in inches. The inch names are exact: 4.5 in = 114.3 mm, 4.75 in = 120.65 mm, 5 in = 127 mm, 5.5 in = 139.7 mm, 6.5 in = 165.1 mm (checked in code). 5x120 and 5x120.65 are different patterns, as are 5x112 and 5x114.3; they are not interchangeable.
- Measuring: with an even lug count, measure between the centres of two holes straight across. With an odd count, measure between the centres of two adjacent holes and multiply by 1/sin(180/n): 1.7013 for 5 lugs, 2.0 for 6 lugs. The column 'adjacent hole centres' is PCD × sin(180°/n), computed here so you can check a wheel with a ruler.
- PCD list: tiresizes.com prints 47 patterns with lug count and PCD in mm; every PCD in the table is on that list except 5x120.65 (its inch name 5x4.75 is in santaanawheel.com and rerev.com). Makes: four independent aggregator pages (rimlist, santaanawheel, tyrecalculator, rerev index) were read and a make is listed only where at least two of them name it or a hub-bore page confirms it; single-source entries are marked. These sites copy each other, are not makers, and contradict each other for several patterns (5x110, 5x115, 5x120.65, 5x139.7: left blank or marked). Always check the vehicle year.
- Example hub bore and stud thread: printed by wheel-sizes.com (year-by-year lug-nut and hub-bore pages for Honda Civic, BMW 330, Chevrolet Tahoe, Toyota Tundra, Ford Focus RS, Audi allroad, Nissan Titan) or by rerev.com (make / model tables). Where both sites print the same vehicle they agree (Civic 4x100: 56.1 and M12x1.5). Everything else is from one site and is marked so. The same PCD carries different threads: 6x139.7 is M14x1.5 on the Tahoe and M12x1.25 on the Titan; BMW's 5x120 is M12x1.5 (2001-06) and M14x1.25 (2017-18). The Toyota Tundra 2018-2020 row (M12x1.5) contradicts the rows around it (M14x1.5) and is shown as printed, not trusted. Thread sizes are on lug-nuts-and-wheel-bolts.
- Hub bore vs wheel centre bore: a hub-centric wheel has a centre bore equal to or larger than the hub; a larger bore needs a hub-centric ring, a smaller bore will not fit (stated by rerev.com and tyrecalculator). Wheel and hub bore are not part of the pattern.
- Files: 15 hole-pattern templates (4x100, 4x108, 4x114.3, 5x100, 5x108, 5x112, 5x114.3, 5x120, 5x127, 5x139.7, 6x135, 6x139.7, 8x165.1, 8x170, 8x180). Each is a round plate: PCD and hole count are the published pattern. Lug holes are Ø12 for PCD up to 120 and Ø14 above: the nominal diameter of an example M12 or M14 stud thread, an Xem choice with no clearance (a wheel seat hole is bigger and cone- or ball-shaped; its size is not part of the pattern). Centre bore: the example hub bore in the table where one is given (4x100: 56.1, 4x114.3: 66.1, 5x108: 63.4, 5x112: 57.1, 5x114.3: 64.1, 5x120: 72.6, 6x135: 87.1, 6x139.7: 78.1), otherwise PCD / 2, an Xem choice. Plate OD (PCD + 40 mm), 6 mm thickness and the first hole on +X are Xem choices. Left out: 5x120.65, 5x130, 5x150, 6x114.3 (no file: pattern only), 3-, 7- and 10-lug patterns, wheel and hub models.
- Trailer hubs use the same patterns in inches (5 on 4.5, 5 on 4.75, 6 on 5.5, 8 on 6.5): see trailer-hub-bolt-patterns.

## Mating features (exact size; open press / slide / run / socket by your process clearance, leave designed and clamp as drawn)

| feature | exact | mates with | fit | files |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| lug holes | n × Ø12.0 (PCD up to 120) or Ø14.0 (above), nominal stud diameter of an example M12 / M14 thread, on the PCD in the file name | wheel stud or lug bolt of that thread on the vehicle hub; the real wheel hole is a cone or ball seat larger than this (thread sizes on lug-nuts-and-wheel-bolts) | slide | wheel-template-* |
| centre bore | Ø in the file name: the example vehicle hub bore where the table gives one (56.1 to 87.1), otherwise PCD / 2 (an Xem choice) | hub spigot of the vehicle; a hub-centric wheel bore must be equal to or larger than the hub (ring fills the gap), never smaller | slide | wheel-template-* |
| bolt circle (PCD) | the PCD in the file name (100 to 180 mm) | stud circle of the hub: the pattern must match exactly (5x120 is not 5x120.65) | designed | wheel-template-* |

## Questions

**What is 5x114.3 in inches?**

5 lugs on a 4.5 in circle: 5x4.5 or '5 on 4.5' (114.3 mm = 4.5 in exactly).

**How do I measure a 5-lug bolt pattern?**

Measure the centre-to-centre distance between two adjacent lug holes and multiply by 1.7013 (that is 1/sin 36°): 67.18 mm adjacent gives 114.3 mm.

**Is 5x120 the same as 5x120.65 (5x4.75)?**

No: 5x120.65 is 5 on 4.75 in. The 0.65 mm difference is enough that the pattern is not interchangeable.

**Which bolt pattern do most trucks use?**

6x139.7 (6 on 5.5) on Chevrolet / GMC 1500, Tahoe, Tacoma, 4Runner, Titan; 6x135 on the Ford F-150; 8x165.1, 8x170 and 8x180 on heavy-duty pickups (see the table).

**Do the same bolt pattern wheels use the same lug nuts?**

Not always: the Tahoe and the Titan are both 6x139.7 but M14x1.5 and M12x1.25 per wheel-sizes.com. Check the thread on lug-nuts-and-wheel-bolts.
