Spring plungers GN 615 (ball plungers): thread, ball diameter, length, travel and spring load, M2 to M24
What are the dimensions and spring force of a GN 615 spring plunger (ball plunger): thread, ball diameter, length, travel? · Standard part · basis: Ganter's GN 615 table (d1, d2, l, w, spring loads) agreeing with Elesa's GN 615 sheet and J.W. Winco's manual page on every size except the M4 standard spring; numbers only

Notes
- GN 615 is the common threaded spring plunger (ball plunger, spring-loaded detent, push-on / push-off element, ejector): a threaded steel or stainless body with a slotted end, a spring and a hardened ball (Ganter: housing blackened steel, ball hardened steel 1.3505; KN / KSN stainless). K is steel with the standard spring, KS steel with the high spring, KN and KSN the stainless versions; high-spring plungers have a zinc-plated ball (Winco) or a marked housing. Sizes M2 to M24; M20 and M24 are the large end.
- The columns follow Ganter's table: d1 thread, d2 ball diameter, l length, w compression (the stroke the ball can be pushed in; the sources do not define it more closely), spring load initial (ball just touching its stop, pre-load) and end (at compression w). Ganter's own page, the Elesa sheet (KN / KSN), the J.W. Winco manual page (M3 to M24, 3NG11 to 24NG11) and Cromwell / Ehorst listings (M3, M6, M10 spot checks) agree on d2, l, w and the high spring load for every size. They differ in one place: the M4 standard spring, which Ganter prints as 8.5 N initial / 14 N end and Elesa and Winco as 6 N initial / 14.5 N end; both are shown. Loads are approximate ('≈') in the sources.
- GN 615.3 is the hex-socket version with thread locking: it is longer for the same thread (l in the last column, M3 8, M4 12, M5 14, M6 15, M8 18, M10 23, M12 26, M16 33, M20 43, M24 48 mm; Winco, two copies agree) and has a hex socket A/F 2 (M4) to 12 (M24) instead of a screwdriver slot.
- No file: the slot width and depth, ball seat and body ends are not in the tables, so a drawing would be invented. A tapped hole for the plunger is the standard ISO coarse thread listed (drill per your thread table). Ganter publishes per-part CAD for GN 615 on its product page (linked).

Questions
What are the dimensions of an M6 GN 615 ball plunger?
Ball Ø3.5 mm, length 14 mm, compression 1 mm, standard spring 11 N initial / 18 N end, high spring 19 / 28 N.
How big is the ball in an M8 spring plunger?
4.5 mm in GN 615 (length 16 mm, compression 1.5 mm).
Do sources agree on the M4 spring force?
Not quite: Ganter prints 8.5 N initial / 14 N end, Elesa and Winco 6 N / 14.5 N; geometry (ball 2.5, length 9, w 0.8) agrees.
