Blind (pop) rivets, dome head: 3.2, 4.0, 4.8 mm and 1/8, 5/32, 3/16 in: hole size, head diameter, grip range, length
What drill size does a pop rivet need, and what are its head diameter and grip range? · Standard part · basis: Fortress all-aluminium blind rivet spec sheet (metric), Black Crow Fasteners reference guide (inch hole / grip / length), Olander and Zoro listings for two head diameters. Numbers only: the shape is a dome head, a short body and a break-stem mandrel, with no published profile
Also called: pop rivet drill size, 1/8 pop rivet drill bit, 3/16 pop rivet hole size, 4.8 mm blind rivet drill, 5/32 rivet hole, pop rivet head diameter, blind rivet grip range chart, pop rivet size chart, 3.2 mm rivet hole, ad44 rivet dimensions
Exact dimensions. True size, with no printing tolerance added.

Notes
- The metric rows are the Fortress spec sheet: rivet diameter 3.2, 4.0, 4.8 mm, hole size range, a head-diameter range per diameter, grip range and length per rivet code (the sheet calls the diameters 'D' and the codes 4-x, 5-x, 6-x). The inch rows are the Black Crow guide: drill number, hole range, grip range and rivet length per trade size (41–410, 52–58, 62–616).
- The two systems line up: the Olander listing for the 1/8 in AD44 prints a flange diameter of 0.238–0.262 in (6.05–6.65 mm, the Fortress 3.2 mm head range) and a hole of 0.129–0.133 in (3.28–3.38 mm, against 3.3–3.4 mm); the 3/16 in hole 0.192–0.196 in is 4.88–4.98 mm against 4.9–5.0 mm. Use the rows for your rivet's system.
- Head diameter: Fortress prints a range per diameter, not per grip length. For inch rivets only two single-part values were found and they are shown on their own rows: AD44 (1/8 in, grip .188–.250) 0.238–0.262 in and AD52 (5/32 in, grip .063–.125, Stanley Engineered Fastening) 5/16 in. One distributor sheet printed head diameters that grew with grip length (.203 to .765 in for 1/8 in) and conflicted with those two listings, so it was not used.
- Inch 'rivet length' is the figure printed in the Black Crow trade-size table; metric 'length' is the Fortress L column. Sheet values are guide values for aluminium-body rivets with the sheet's own caveat; steel, stainless and closed-end rivets, countersunk heads and large-flange heads have other head dimensions that are not on this page. The Fortress sheet also lists 2.4 and 6.4 mm rivets, not copied here.
- No file: the body-and-head profile and the mandrel break-point are not published, so a drawing would be invented. McMaster-Carr's pop-rivet pages carry per-part STEP and are linked, not copied.
