Tri-clamp gland caps, 2 in: end caps with a rod gland, an M5 port and a stop bridge or bell-crank post

How do I take a displacer rod out of the top of a tri-clamp tee? · Hardware · basis: ISO 2852 face, recess and 20° back cone as the flat end cap on this site; pedestal clear of the 2 in clamp; rod, bushing and port sizes are design values

Notes

  • A 2 in end cap with the rod's gland on its back. It closes the top of the run of a standard 2 in equal tee with a Type B gasket and a 2 in clamp, like any end cap; a Ø50.8 pedestal lifts everything on its back clear of the clamp.
  • Ringbom cap: the Ø8 rod runs in an 8 × 12 × 20 bushing at the top of a Ø36 boss; an 8 mm collar on the rod stops on the boss top and under a bridge 26 mm up, so the free displacer travels 18 mm.
  • Gamma cap: the Ø3 displacer rod runs in two 3 × 5 × 6 bushings, one at each end of the gland; a post on a Ø64 platform carries the bell crank's pivot 89.5 mm above the face.
  • Both caps have an M5 tapped port from the pedestal into the cap's recess: a plug, a gauge, or a one-way valve that lets air in when the gas falls below air pressure (it keeps the rolling diaphragm the right way round).

Questions

What fitting does it go on?

The top of the run of a standard 2 in equal tee, or any 2 in ferrule: it is an end cap with things on its back.

What is the M5 port for?

A plug, a pressure gauge, or a one-way valve that lets air in so the gas never drops below air pressure.
