C channels (AISC American Standard channels): C6x13, C8x11.5, C12x20.7 dimensions + STEP/STL

What are the dimensions of a C6x13 channel? · Standard part · basis: AISC Shapes Database (v15.0 values): d, bf, tw, tf, k for every C shape; 2:12 inner flange slope

Also called: c6x13 dimensions, c6x13, c 6 x 13, c8x11.5, c4x5.4, c3x4.1, c10x15.3, c12x20.7, c15x33.9, c channel dimensions, steel channel dimensions, c channel step file, american standard channel

Exact dimensions. True size, with no printing tolerance added.

length
101.6 mm

Notes

  • C shapes are the American Standard channels: C6x13 is about 6 in deep and 13 lb per foot. The inner flange faces slope about 17 % (2 in 12 in), and tf in the table is the mean flange thickness.
  • Files draw the 2:12 slope (quoted on draftsperson.net; the AISC page itself was not readable here), with tf at the middle of the flange, a derived root radius from the printed k, and square flange tips (no toe radius is printed).
  • Files are 4 in (101.6 mm) long extrusions along X; the section is in the YZ plane, back of the web on y = 0, flanges toward +y, with z = 0 on the bottom face.
  • 19 of the 32 C sizes have files; all sizes are in the table. Drawn area is within 3 % of the printed area on all of them.
  • MC (miscellaneous) channels, with other proportions, are on aisc-mc-channels.
