MC channels (AISC miscellaneous channels): MC6x12, MC8x8.5, MC12x31 dimensions + STEP/STL

What are the dimensions of an MC8x8.5 channel? · Standard part · basis: AISC Shapes Database (v15.0 values): d, bf, tw, tf, k for every MC shape

Also called: mc8x8.5 dimensions, mc8x8.5, mc 8 x 8.5, mc6x12, mc12x31, mc10x22, mc4x13.8, mc3x7.1, mc channel dimensions, miscellaneous channel dimensions

Exact dimensions. True size, with no printing tolerance added.

length
101.6 mm

Notes

  • MC shapes are 'miscellaneous' channels: deeper than a C of the same weight in some sizes and with different flange proportions. MC12x31 is about 12 in deep, 31 lb per foot.
  • A flange slope for MC shapes is not stated in any page we could read, so the MC files are drawn with parallel flanges of the tabulated thickness, root radius r = k - tf from the printed k, and square tips. Where an MC flange is really tapered the drawn section differs slightly; the drawn area is within 5 % of the printed area on all of them.
  • Files are 4 in (101.6 mm) long extrusions along X; the section is in the YZ plane, back of the web on y = 0, flanges toward +y, with z = 0 on the bottom face.
  • 12 of the 40 MC sizes have files; all sizes are in the table.
