ISO 6149 metric O-ring boss ports (M8×1 to M60×2): spotface, depths, thread, O-ring

What are the spotface, thread depth and O-ring of an ISO 6149 M16 × 1.5 or M22 × 1.5 port? · Standard part · basis: Parker Tube Fittings Division catalog 4300 table U17 (ISO 6149-1), cross-checked against the ISO 6149-1:2006 sample pages; O-ring sizes from Parker's TFD O-ring sheet; numbers only

Notes

  • ISO 6149-1 is the metric straight-thread O-ring port (the ISO 261 'M' thread, tolerance class 6H; tap drills to ISO 2306 class 6H; Parker lists it with SAE J2244-1 and DIN 3852 part 3). The table is Parker Tube Fittings Division 4300 catalog table U17 (page U25), in mm as the page implies, with the page's own letters: d2 spotface diameter with the optional identification ridge (large) and without it (small), d3 a reference diameter (a connecting-hole application may need another size), d4, d5, d6 (the page gives no definitions for these three), L1, L2 (tap drill depth, which needs a bottoming tap for the full thread; deepen it with a standard tap), L3, L4, and Z ±1°. Parker's notes: mark a port without the ridge 'metric' or name 'ISO 6149-1 Metric' on the nameplate; the standard hydraulic O-ring is 90 durometer nitrile.
  • Cross-check: the ISO 6149-1:2006 sample pages (iTeh, OCR text) print the same values for every thread from M8 × 1 to M60 × 2, row by row, with d2 / d3 for the with / without-ridge spotface, 'b' for the reference connecting hole, d4, d5, L1 to L4 and Z. The ISO sample's M20 × 1.5 row (cartridge valve cavities, ISO 7789) reads 33 / 29 / 27.5 / 21.8 / 2.4 / 2 / 14.5 / 15°, against Parker's 32 / 27 / 25.5 / 21.8 / 2.4 / 2 / 14.5 / 15°: the two differ on the spotface and d4 values, so both are on record and the Parker row is the one shown. A Chinese reprint of the 2022 edition (164580.com, three rows read) agrees with Parker's M22 and M60 rows; for M8 × 1 it prints L1 = 2.2 against Parker's and the 2006 sample's 1.6. The ISO text lists the optional identification-ridge diameter d6 for all 14 sizes and gives working pressures up to 63 MPa (non-adjustable stud ends) or 40 MPa (adjustable), depending on size and material.
  • O-rings: ID × W in mm from Parker's TFD O-ring sheet ('M-8 ISO O-ring' and so on). The same sheet lists M38 × 2 (34.6 × 2.9) which is not in Parker's port table, and a separate ISO 9974-1 / DIN 3852-1 metric O-ring table, which is for a different port and not used here. Other 'metric port' tables (DIN 3852-3, ISO 6149 in distributor catalogs) use other symbols and were not mixed in.
  • Left out, no file: as with the SAE ports, the figure that defines the seat cone (d4, d5, Z) and the ridge did not come through in any text read, so no cavity solid is drawn.
  • The metric port is the standard to use for new hydraulic designs (ISO 11926-1's own scope says so). Thread names: M12 × 1.5 means 12 mm major diameter, 1.5 mm pitch.
