Ross yoke alpha, two parallel 10 mL syringes

Two syringes side by side, one crank, a Ross yoke solved for 90° and near-straight piston motion.

e 6 · yoke a = h = 20 · link 40 · rods 60 · strokes 17 mm (2.8 mL each) · 90.0° · rod angle < 1°

Exact dimensions. Every part is drawn at true size with no printing tolerance; each part's page lists its mating features and the fit each joint needs, so open those by your process's clearance before making the parts.

Build order

  1. Print frame, yoke, link, crank disc, two con-rods, two syringe pistons, shaft, pins, spacers, flywheel, tee.
  2. Lap each piston into its barrel; no oil.
  3. 625s into the boss; shaft with the 2 mm spacer; crank disc on the D-flat.
  4. Press the 3 × 12 pins into the yoke corners and a 3 × 20 into its top-middle; yoke onto the crank pin (1 mm spacer), collar.
  5. Con-rods on the corner pins; rocking link on the top-middle pin over 5 + 2 mm spacers and onto the frame-post pin; collars.
  6. Pistons onto the rods with 3 × 12 dowels; barrels over them from below, tips up, flanges front-to-back; pinch screws.
  7. Tee and mesh between the tips; flywheel behind the boss; heat one tip end; flick.
