Notes
- A flat washer that slides over a ferrule rim (bore = flange OD) and rests on the hot-end clamp, so the flame's plume is turned away from the tube and the parts above the hot joint.
- Bore = flange OD (25.0 / 50.5 / 64.0 / 77.5 / 91.0 / 119.0); OD = clamp OD + 16 (Ø50 / 75.5 / 89 / 102.5 / 116 / 144), 0.6 mm thick.
- It goes on from the open end of the spool before the cold-end head and its clamp; it drops down the tube onto the hot clamp.

What size heat shield for a 2 inch tri-clamp?
Ø89 × Ø64 bore × 0.6 mm: it passes over the 2 in ferrule rim and sits on the 73 mm clamp with 8 mm to spare all round.
How does the heat shield go on a finished spool?
Its bore is the flange OD, so it slides over the rim from the open end of the spool and down the tube onto the hot-end clamp.
