U-handles / cabinet pull handles: Ganter GN 426.5 Ø20 and Ø28 × 200–400 (thread, height) and McMaster-Carr mounting-hole spacing options

What are the dimensions and mounting threads of a U-shaped cabinet handle, and what hole spacings do pull handles come in? · Standard part · basis: Ganter's GN 426.5 stainless cabinet U-handle datasheet (16 rows: types A and B, Ø20 and Ø28), Ganter's aluminum GN 426 sheet for d1, length and thread, and the option lists on McMaster-Carr's pull handle page; numbers only

Also called: GN 426.5, U handle dimensions, pull handle hole spacing, cabinet u-handle M8 Ø20, door pull handle spacing, Bügelgriff GN 426, stainless pull handle 300 mm, U-handle mounting centers, handle center to center hole spacing

Exact dimensions. Every file is drawn at true size with no tolerance added. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your process's clearance before making the part. Mating features

Notes

  • GN 426.5 columns are Ganter's own symbols in the order printed: d1 (grip diameter; solid Ø20 or tube Ø28 × 4 per the aluminum sheet), l1 (tolerance ±0.5 for type A and ±0.3 for type B), the thread d2 (M 8 for Ø20, M 10 for Ø28; labelled 'threaded bore for mounting stud' for type B), d3, h, l2, r ≈, t1 and t2. The sheet's text has ten values per row against nine labelled columns; the tenth (a number between 540 and 1086) is not labelled and is left out. Type A is mounted from the back (blind threaded bore); type B from the operator's side.
  • Hole spacing: neither Ganter sheet labels a 'hole spacing' or 'centre distance' column. l1 is the one length that varies with the handle (200 to 400 mm) and the sheet prints it as the handle length; do not read it as the mounting-hole centre distance without checking Ganter's drawing, where the studs sit. The aluminum GN 426 sheet gives d1 20 with lengths 200 and 300 and d1 28 with lengths 250, 350 and 500, with M8 and M10 threads, and other columns that could not be assigned; its figures agree with the GN 426.5 rows on d1 and thread.
  • McMaster-Carr's page prints the mounting-hole center-to-center options in inches (3/4 to 3-3/4 in; options only, not tied to a specific handle) and, separately, mounting stud center-to-center options (2 to 6 in), plus grip diameters of 1/8 in to 1-1/2 in and 8 to 30 mm and the thread sizes above. The values are option lists, so a particular handle's spacing, thread and grip are on its own part page.
  • Related handles: DIN 39 fixed handles are on fixed-handles-din-39, broom and tool handles on broom-and-tool-handles. No file: the bent-tube path and the mounting-boss shapes are not given as numbers (the spacing is not labelled). McMaster-Carr sells pull handles with per-part STEP; linked, not copied.

Questions

What thread does a Ø20 GN 426.5 U-handle have?

M 8 for the Ø20 (types A and B); Ø28 uses M 10.

What lengths does a GN 426.5 U-handle come in?

Ø20: 200, 250, 300, 350 mm; Ø28: 250, 300, 350, 400 mm (l1 on the sheet).

What center-to-center spacings do McMaster-Carr pull handles list?

3/4 to 3-3/4 in mounting-hole spacings in the options (for example 3 in, 3-1/2 in, 3-3/4 in) and 2 to 6 in mounting-stud spacings; see the list above for all values.
