Blind rivets 6.4 mm and 1/4 in: dome, countersunk and large-flange heads, hole size, head diameter, grip range, length
What hole size does a 6.4 mm or 1/4 in pop rivet need, and how big is its head? · Standard part · basis: Fortress (6.4 mm 8-series), GESIPA (dome, countersunk 120° and large flange), Westfield (large head), Black Crow and LA Fasteners' Stanley / Bulb-Tite catalogue (1/4 in); numbers only
Also called: 6.4 mm pop rivet hole size, 1/4 pop rivet drill size, 1/4 inch blind rivet hole, 6.4 mm blind rivet grip range, pop rivet 6.4 head diameter, countersunk pop rivet 6.4, large flange blind rivet dimensions, ad84 rivet dimensions, 1/4 rivet drill F, pop rivet size chart 1/4, 6.4 x 20 rivet grip, blind rivet 6.4 hole 6.5

Notes
- Millimetres for the metric rows, inches for the 1/4 in rows (the units are in the cells). Extends blind-pop-rivets-dome-head (3.2 to 4.8 mm and 1/8 to 3/16 in). 6.4 mm: Fortress's 8-series gives hole 6.5 – 6.6 mm, head diameter 12.07 – 13.34 mm, head thickness 2.03 mm, grip and length per code; its sheet covers domed and countersunk rivets in one table and does not say which row is which. GESIPA's 6.4 mm dome has a setting head dk max of 13.0 mm and hole 6.5 mm (shear 3400 N, tensile 4600 N), and its 6.4 x 12 to 6.4 x 30 countersunk 120° list hole 6.5 mm and the grip ranges shown; GESIPA's countersunk and large-flange strength table has no 6.4 mm line.
- 1/4 in: Black Crow's reference guide gives drill F and hole .257 – .261 in for every size (6.53 – 6.63 mm, which agrees with Fortress's 6.5 – 6.6) with trade sizes 84 to 816 (grip and rivet length range per size; no head diameter printed). LA Fasteners' Stanley / POP catalogue gives, for AD84 to AD816, grip, length under head, head diameter .500 in (12.70 mm, inside Fortress's 12.07 – 13.34) and head height .073 in; the extraction did not label its columns, so they are read by pattern (grip, length, head diameter, head height) and should be checked against the printed catalogue. It lists no 1/4 in countersunk or large-flange POP rivet; Olympic Bulb-Tite 1/4 in blind rivets (a different type, with a bulb-forming sleeve) list countersunk (head .452 in, height .147 in) and dome (head .535 – .565 in, height .116 – .118 in) forms, which are shown as printed.
- Large flange: GESIPA sizes are 3.2 (K 9.5), 4 (K 12), 4.8 (K 16) and 5 mm (K 11 or K 14); Westfield (design based on DIN 7337, 'non-standard head shape') prints flange diameters 9.5, 12 and 14 mm for 3.2, 4 and 4.8 mm. The 4.8 mm values disagree (16 mm GESIPA, 14 mm Westfield); both are shown. No 6.4 mm or 1/4 in large-flange rivet was found in any table read, so none is claimed.
- No files: the head profile (dome radius, countersink angle detail) and mandrel are not published as numbers for the sizes here. ISO 15977 (dome), 15978 (countersunk) and the large-flange standards were not read directly; the page reports maker tables only. McMaster-Carr sells pop rivets with per-part STEP; linked, not copied.
