Solid rivets: DIN 660 round head, DIN 661 countersunk (1–8 mm), ASME B18.1.1 flat, countersunk, button and truss head (1/16 to 7/16 in) — head diameter, height, shank

What are the head and shank dimensions of a solid rivet (DIN 660, DIN 661, ASME B18.1.1 button, flat, countersunk, truss)? · Standard part · basis: fasten.it transcriptions of DIN 660 (2012), DIN 661 (2011) and ASME B18.1.1 (1972) tables; HB Bolt's ASME flat-head cut sheet as the clean cross-check. Numbers as printed; model heads are Xem drawings from those numbers

Also called: solid rivet dimensions, din 660 rivet dimensions, din 661 countersunk rivet, round head rivet 4 mm head diameter, button head rivet size chart, asme b18.1.1 flat head rivet, 1/8 solid rivet head diameter, 3/16 button head rivet dimensions, countersunk rivet 92 degree, truss head rivet dimensions, iso 1051 rivets, copper rivet dimensions, rivet head height, solid rivet step file, din 660 3d model

Exact dimensions. Every file is drawn at true size with no tolerance added. The holes and pins that meet another part are listed below under Mating features, with the fit each joint needs; open those by your process's clearance before making the part. Mating features

Notes

  • DIN 660 (round head): d1 nominal shank diameter, dk nominal head diameter, k head height (js14), e max (the page defines e only by its letter), d min the smallest shank diameter. The page lists nominal lengths 2 to 40 mm (a size does not come in every length: Ø1 from 2 mm, Ø8 only from 8 mm). The 2012 edition replaced a 1993 edition with a nominal-only k; only the 2012 values are shown.
  • DIN 661 (countersunk, 2011): d1 min and max, dk nominal, k approximate (≈), e max, d min as printed. The cone angle is not given in the text read, so no countersunk DIN 661 model is drawn. DIN 661 dk equals DIN 660 dk for every size; k differs (it is a smaller approximate height).
  • ASME B18.1.1-1972, 'small solid rivets 7/16 in and smaller': the fasten.it pages print letters E (shank), A (head diameter), H (head height) and R (radius) but do not name the head type of each table. The head types here follow the table order and layout (flat, flat countersunk, button, pan, truss) in AmesWeb's version of the same standard: Table 1 has no R column and matches HB Bolt's flat-head cut sheet exactly (verified), Table 2 has an H 'ref' only and AmesWeb's note says a countersunk head is calculated on a 92° angle extended to a sharp edge, Table 3 adds R approx, Table 5 adds R1. The identification of Tables 2, 3 and 5 as countersunk, button and truss is therefore by layout, not by a label on the page. Table 4 (three radii, pan head) is not listed.
  • Cells left out: the countersunk 7/16 A min (the page prints '765' with no digits before it), the truss 3/8 A max / min (printed 0.808 / 0.848, which breaks the size trend), and the 1/16 row of the truss table (the table starts at 3/32). The smallest size is printed '1/6' on fasten.it; it is read as 1/16 because its basic diameter is 0.062 and HB Bolt's sheet has 1/16 at 0.062. In the truss table the shank columns have typos (0125, 0.225) and were not used; shank sizes are on the flat-head rows. The truss H cells for 7/32 and 13/32 differ from the flat-head sheet by 0.001 (0.066 / 0.145 / 0.123 against 0.065 / 0.146 / 0.124) and are shown as printed.
  • Recommended hole sizes are not on this page: no solid-rivet hole table (DIN or ASME) could be read in full, only a blind-rivet-mixed distributor chart, which is not used. Use the rivet shank max plus your process clearance, and confirm with your rivet supplier.
  • Files: 7 DIN 660 round-head rivets (Ø1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 x 10 mm), and flat, countersunk and button heads for 1/8, 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 in (x 1/2 in): 19 models. All shanks are plain cylinders at the nominal diameter, closed ends. Round heads are a spherical cap drawn through the published head diameter and height (DIN 660 and ASME button heads are not published as a radius, so the cap radius follows from those two numbers). Button-head caps use A max and H max, flat heads A max and H max, countersunk A max and H ref. The 10 mm and 1/2 in lengths are Xem's examples.
