Heyco strain relief bushings (SR series): mounting hole, to-prevent-rotation dimension, panel thickness, body length and cable range
What panel hole does a Heyco strain relief bushing need, and what panel thickness and cable does it take? · Standard part · basis: Heyco's flat-cable strain relief page (read in full), Heyco's round-cable sheet as hosted by Mouser (cross-checked against two distributor copies), and the sheet for the SR 5P3-4; numbers only
Also called: heyco strain relief hole size, sr 5p-4 dimensions, heyco 1137, strain relief bushing panel hole, 1/2 inch strain relief bushing, cord strain relief bushing sizes, heyco sr 6n4-4, snap in strain relief panel thickness, heyco sr 5p3-4, cord grip panel hole 9/16, strain relief for 1/8 inch panel, heyco strain relief cad

Notes
- Columns follow Heyco's sheets: A is the mounting hole diameter, B the 'to prevent rotation' dimension, 'finished fit panel thickness' (the thickest panel the groove is made for; the sheets say the part has additional clearance and custom thicknesses are available), C the body length, and the hole plug part number. Dimensions are inches with mm in brackets as printed. Material is nylon 6/6, rated −18 to 105 °C, standard colour black, per the flat-cable page.
- What B means: the sheets give the hole diameter and the 'to prevent rotation' figure but do not describe the hole as round or D-cut in the text read. For the SR 30-1 the sheet says to use an elongated mounting hole (the printed B of .730 in exceeds the .560 in A, as for the SR 33-1's .875 in vs .750 in), so B is shown as printed and not interpreted. No panel-hole shape is drawn.
- Cable range: the layout of the round-cable sheets is flattened in the copies read, so cable OD columns are partly unreadable (upper limits of SR 2M-1 and SR 5MN-3, the lower limit of others). Only cable entries on which the copies agree are shown; use Heyco's page for the full table. Rows left out: SR 5L-1 (1154), SR 30-1A / 30-1B (1487 / 1490), thin-panel parts (SR 4A-6, SR 3A-4 and the other .040 in panel sizes) and the many part numbers with no readable dimensions. For the SR 6P4-4 (1163) the sheet prints a panel thickness of .125 in but 2.5 mm; the inch value is shown and the sheet's own mismatch noted.
- Rubber grommets from the same maker are on rubber-grommets-panel-hole, and cable glands on cable-glands-pg-thread and cable-glands-metric-thread. No file: the bushing's outline is not published as numbers in a source read. Heyco publishes CAD for its parts on its site; linked, not copied.

Questions
What hole does a Heyco SR 5P-4 strain relief need?
A 0.500 in (12.7 mm) mounting hole, 0.450 in (11.4 mm) 'to prevent rotation' dimension, for a panel up to 0.062 in (1.6 mm) thick; the SR 5P-4 (1147) in Heyco's table is the 0.100 in (2.5 mm) panel version of the SR 5N-4 (1150).
Is the hole round or D-shaped?
The Heyco sheets read give a hole diameter A and a 'to prevent rotation' dimension B and do not say D-cut in the text; Heyco's note for the SR 30 parts says use an elongated mounting hole. Check Heyco's drawing for the part.
