- Drawn at 0.480 in (12.19 mm), the Steel & O'Brien value; other makers list 0.500 in (Shaw) and 0.562 / 0.625 in (Holland), so measure the cap in hand. The flange diameter agrees across all three.
- At 6 bar gauge a 0.480 in cap simply supported at the gasket groove sees about 85 MPa at the centre and bows 0.35 mm (Roark, uniform pressure): a large cap carries a large load (10 in: 32.1 kN at 6 bar). The cap must be rated for that at its temperature.
- The gasket-groove diameter (C2) at 10 and 12 in is not in ISO 2852 (its table stops below these sizes): it is drawn at flange − 7.5 mm, the land width the site already uses for the 4 in, and stated as derived. Everything else here is from the cited tables.
