Thermoacoustic water jacket: 14 mm clamp-on halves for a 2 in tri-clamp tube
How do I water-cool the ambient heat exchanger of a thermoacoustic engine on a 2 inch tri-clamp spool? · Hardware · basis: Bore = ASME BPE 2 in tube OD Ø50.8; length and start position from the exchanger positions in tools/gen_ta_family.py; ISO 273 medium clearance for M4

Notes
- A short jacket for the one place a thermoacoustic core must be held at room temperature: the tube wall over an ambient heat exchanger. It is 14 mm long so it covers the 10 mm exchanger and stops before the regenerator or stack; it starts 9.35 mm from the clamp face, 0.5 mm clear of the clamp.
- Two identical halves close on the tube with one M4 × 25 and nut each side. Each half has its own closed water chamber (6 mm deep, 11 long) and two Ø6 hose spigots, in and out; run the two halves in series with a short hose, or in parallel.
- The inner wall is the heat path: tube wall, jacket wall, water. What it is made of is the builder's choice; the file is the geometry.
- Fits: bore clamps on the tube OD (the 1 mm split is the take-up); spigots are a press fit in 6 mm ID hose; ear holes are M4 clearance.

Questions
Why only 14 mm long?
The ambient exchanger is 10 mm; a longer jacket would also cool the regenerator or stack next to it and take away the temperature difference the engine runs on.
Can I use the 56 mm jacket instead?
Not on these cores: it would reach the hot exchanger. It suits the Stirling hot and cold spools.
