Tri-clamp walking-beam gamma generator, 2 in, chargeable

The classic desk walking-beam Stirling in tri-clamp: a standard 2 in tee with the closed hot spool on one run end over the burner, the bored power cylinder standing on its branch, a T-beam on a post taking the piston to the crank, the displacer rod straight to the same crank pin, a Ø200 flywheel and a belted gimbal-motor generator.

Displacer Ø40 × 30 (37.7 mL) · piston Ø48 × 36 by a 1.2 : 1 beam (65.1 mL) · one crank pin, 90° · dead 88.2 mL (swept/dead 0.74) · model shaft power: air 1 atm 2–5 W at 600 rpm; charged 5 bar gauge: air 6–30 W at 600 rpm, helium 14–61 W at 1200 rpm · 2208 generator 6 : 1: 0.0–3.7 W at 26–28 V at 1 atm

Tri-clamp walking-beam gamma generator, 2 in, chargeable, assembled

A walking-beam gamma Stirling generator in 2 in tri-clamp: a standard tee with a closed hot spool over a torch on one run end and a rod-gland cap on the other, a bored power spool standing on its branch under a bounce spool, a T-beam on a post taking the piston to the same crank pin as the displacer rod, a Ø200 flywheel and a belt-driven gimbal-motor generator on one base; about 730 × 178 × 653 mm.

Build order

  1. Frame on the bench; torch stand, shroud, cradles.
  2. Hot end as on the horizontal gamma (screens, liner, fin sleeve, jacket, displacer with its rod).
  3. Run plug into the tee from the −X end, branch plug down the branch onto it; hot spool to the tee (displacer rod through the run plug); gland cap with its bushings on +X.
  4. Power spool on the branch with the piston and rod; bounce spool; piston-rod gland cap with its bushings.
  5. Beam on the post (625s on the Ø5 pivot pin); link A from the piston yoke to end A; crank web, pin and shaft in the uprights with the displacer con-rod and link B on the pin; flywheel, pulley, generator and belt.
